Pamporovo is a modern ski resort at the heart of the stunning pine forests in the Rhodopi Mountain, the mountain
of the mythical singer Orpheus. The village is situated at the foot of the Snejanka mountain, where the tree lined pistes lead. It is the sunniest mountain
resort of Bulgaria, and most southern in Europe, with wonderful snow throughout
the whole season.
Pamporovo has international popularity and is situated 1650 m above sea level
at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 m). It is 240 km from Sofia, the Bulgaria capital, and
85 km from Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria. It is located in
a region renowned for its unique folklore traditions.
Pamporovo has an exclusive climate featuring
a soft winter with about 120 sunny days during the skiing period. The
significant influence of The Aegean Sea appears here and the skiing and snowboarding
season starts from mid - December to May. The average air temperature
is - 3 ° C.
The climate is exclusively healthy and it is no miracle that most of the centenarians in Bulgaria are found in this district. Pamporovo is a ski centre for all categories of skiing, it has excellent skiing and snowboarding runs including a racing ski run for giant slalom, as well as a first class built-up ski lift system. There is a ski school of international category too, as well as many other skiing and snowboarding schools with more than 100 highly qualified instructors for you,with a choice of english or bulgarian speaking. The resort also has various restaurants - do try the superb Eastern European cuisine,tavernas, bars and nightclubs to cater for the nightlife.
Pamporovo offers scores of scenic routes for seeing the Rhodopes Mountain on foot, as
well as opportunities to visit some interesting tourist attractions.
The gentle profile of the mountain with its rounded slopes and summits makes
Pamporovo particularly suitable for beginners. But there are also difficult
ski runs like the Giant Slalom run which is an excellent exercise for
every skiing and snowboarding expert.
All ski and snowboarding runs are safe guarded and maintained in a very good condition. More
than 100 highly qualified skiing and snowboarding instructors fluent in different languages
are here to teach both beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
Ski and snowboard rentals and equipment are available near the ski runs and the lift stations.
The ski and snowboarding runs in Pamporovo come in all hardship levels. They are located
between 1937 m and 1450 m above the sea level on the northern, eastern
and western slopes of The Snejanka peak.
The most difficult ski piste is "The Wall".
All major skiing and snowboarding runs start from the peak of the mountain, where the TV
tower is located.
Great off-piste skiing and snowboarding is available in this resort,
using a local guide when going off-piste is recommended.
Recommended is a day trip to the historic town,Plovdiv - an opportunity to do some wine tasting,or the nearby town of Smolyan. Sofia and the Bachkovo Monastery are of great interest too.
A big number of various shops are available at the resort. A shopping centre is available in the area of Perelik and Murgavets hotels and are open late to accomodate the nightlife
Almost all hotels have restaurants and day bars with many catering for the nightlife. Different types of
restaurants and places to eat are available from traditional Bulgarian to Italian in the resort and meal, snack areas near the
ski pistes.
There are a nightclubs in the local hotels with some staying open until 6am. The nightlife is good with many restaurants and bars
staying open late

The Emergency SKI PATROL service is available to you 24 hours a day. Ambulance
and clinic (with doctor and nurse) are available, as well as first aid,
on all ski slopes. Fully equipped and functioning hospitals are available
in Smolyan and Chepelare. Highly qualified dentists are available at
Pamporovo or Chepelare.
Pharmacies are available
at the resort.
Some medical and all dental services must be cash to the doctors (clinics).
They should provide the necessary bills, receipts and invoices describing
the service and the cost, so that you can claim back the expense to
your insurance company. It's recommended you call your insurance company
and inform them in case of injury. Please follow their instructions.
The resort has a variety of shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife, the famous piano bar in the hotel Murgavets
is an absolute must visit with its glass grand piano.
